January High Season Update 2015

Report Date: February 1, 2015

We've been having excellent fishing offshore so far this season. Our peak sailfish season here is December through April, and so far, we've had excellent numbers of sailfish - rivaling the past 2 record setting years.

It kicked off early this December with a quick run of sailfish. We had a couple days giving us 30-50 bites the first week of December, with 29 releases. After that, the numbers tapered off a little, but it was still consistently good overall. The numbers picked-up again in January as more sailfish migrated in range.

We had several days though January with 30 to 50 bites for sails giving us 20+ releases many days throughout the month, with some dorado (mahi-mahi) still common and an occasional shot at a blue marlin.

The 1st leg of the Los Suenos Triple Crown broke records again after setting records last year as well. Thirty-nine boats released 2379 billfish in 3 days, crushing the previous record of 1412, set in Jan 2014!
